This is a self-portrait of myself and our dog Cinnamon. It took a lot of encouragement before I got up the courage for this drawing. The idea of drawing myself felt somehow odd, but adding Cinnamon to the picture helped me relax. It was also a great chance to incorperate a pet into a portrait. I think that the contrast of textures is interesting. There are the multiple pleats of the gauze shirt, the simple flow of the denim skirt and Cinnimon's fur. Before the drawing process could even begin, it was very challenging for to get a good picture of both me and Cinnimon. When Cinnamon looked good, I looked goofy. When I had a nice expression, Cinnamon was off. We finally chose two photos which I combined for the final creation.
